Check the Filter First
Modern dishwashers — particularly Bosch, KitchenAid, and Miele — use a manual-clean filter system rather than a self-cleaning grinder. The filter is at the bottom of the dishwasher tub, twists out, and needs cleaning every 2-4 weeks under normal use. A completely blocked filter stops drainage and deposits debris on dishes. This is the most common cause of dishwasher drain failure we see — and it's a DIY fix that takes two minutes.
Error Codes
E24 (Bosch) means drain fault — check the filter and drain hose kink before calling. OE (LG) is drain error — same check. If the filter is clear and no kink exists in the drain hose, the drain pump has failed and requires professional service.
Bosch in Gig Harbor and Poulsbo
Bosch dishwashers are exceptionally common in Gig Harbor and Poulsbo premium homes, and they're excellent machines — but the E15 error (water in base pan) requires immediate attention. E15 triggers the flood protection system and locks the dishwasher out. Don't run the machine — tilt it forward to drain the base pan, then call for service to identify the leak source.
